Using Protandim for Alzheimer’s Symptoms Relief

There are multiple studies, published recently, claiming that oxidative stress plays a significant role in the progression of multiple diseases, including diabetes, Alzheimer disease (AD), and atherosclerosis. Oxidative stress generally results from an imbalance between free radicals generated during normal cellular metabolism and the free radical or oxidant scavenging capacity of the endogenous antioxidant enzymes.

Although attempts at neutralization Oxidative stress of Alzheimer's of free radicals with dietary antioxidant supplements have been reported to have certain positive effects, there are also conflicting reports placing the suggestions on the positive antioxidants’ effects in the grey area of the Alzheimer’s alternative therapies need further validation.

Yes, oxidative stress is actually positively cause neurons in the brain to die, resulting in Alzheimer’s. James Franklin, an associate professor of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences, has studied neuronal cell death and oxidative stress at UGA since 2004. “The brain consumes 20 percent of the oxygen in the body even though it only makes up 5 percent of the volume, so it’s particularly susceptible to oxidative stress,” said Franklin. He hypothesized that antioxidants administered unsuccessfully by other researchers to treat Alzheimer’s were not concentrated enough in the mitochondria of cells. Mitochondria are structures within cells that have many functions, including producing oxidative molecules that damage the brain and cause cell death.

Much attention has been focused recently on naturally occurring polyphenolic compounds that are capable of inducing antioxidant enzymes. Prevention of oxidative stress by phytochemicals has evolved as a promising therapeutic approach in the treatment of several diseases. There is a dietary supplement designed to induce endogenous antioxidant enzymes. It consists of five herbal ingredients, namely, silymarin from milk thistle (Silibum marianum), bacopa (Bacopa monniera) extract, ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), green tea (Camilia sinesis) extract, and curcumin from turmeric (Curcuma longa). The therapeutic properties of each of these herbs have been previously reported. However, to gain optimal beneficial effects, to help with Oxidative Stress with Alzheimer's the individual components may have to be used at pharmacological doses not easily achieved by oral administration and that could cause toxic side effects. Therefore, this all natural product formulated with the concept of combining multiple phytochemicals at low doses to gain synergy among them.

Note that none of the individual components is known to have any significant clinical benefit from antioxidant effects. Some of them are listed in the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database as “not enough information” to know if they are safe. One has estrogenic properties and more than one has known side effects and potential interactions with other drugs. The only one that even sounds remotely like it might have some pertinent data behind it is green tea. Green tea contains antioxidant catechins that are “thought to possibly have a protective effect against atherosclerosis and heart disease” and contains flavonoids that “might reduce lipoprotein oxidation; however benefits have not yet been described in humans.”

Therefore, it is all about combination of these components in one natural substance – Protandim.

Protandim is claimed to be more than one million times more effective at getting rid of free radicals than standard anti-oxidants. How is this possible? Anti-oxidants generally get rid of free radicals one-to-one, meaning one molecule of an anti-oxidant gets rid of one molecule of a free radical. But Protandim works in an entirely different way. It "turns on" an enzyme in the body: Superoxide Dismutase (SOD). This enzyme is a scavenger of free radicals and one SOD enzyme can neutralize up to one-million free radicals every second for up to 13 days!!!

Dr. Joe McCord, PhD, who discovered the SOD enzyme, also discovered the formula for Protandim. It includes several totally natural products, which individually do not turn on SOD, but collectively they do turn on the SOD enzyme.

As developers claim, the formula is so powerful, that you would need to consume the nutrients below to equal one pill of Protandim:

  • Eat 375 Oranges Daily
  • Drink 87 Glasses of Red Wine Daily
  • Eat 31 Pounds of Strawberries Daily
  • Eat 32 Pounds of Raspberries Daily

The dose is 2 pills a day for the first month. In the second and future months take one pill a day if you are healthy, or take two pills a day if you have a chronic illness. No undesirable side effects have been reported.

General alleged Protadim benefits include:
  • Boosts immune system.
  • Promotes cardiovascular health by lowering oxidative stress.
  • Only product that reduces cell aging.
  • Helps to fight oxidative stress and aging.
  • It is 100% safe free from all banned substances.
  • It is patented formula, which is the result of decades of research by professionals.
  • The ingredients used are all natural. It has a shelf life of three years.
  • Protandim is a Supplement with a scientifically proved formula, can deliver more antioxidants than conventional supplements or vitamins.
